Westjet's new website - Meh.
Westjet unveiled a new website this morning and it's looking pretty tight. One thing for sure that can be said about the new design is they realized what was important for visitors. Can we take a stab and say that "Book a flight" was #1 followed by "Check in" being #2 followed by "Contact someone to bitch or praise" being #3 followed by "Give me the best freaking deal of the century" being #4?
Definitely like how uncluttered the site is now and how, when I'm looking for flights, they give me a range of dates with prices to choose from on a slider bar. That makes sense.
When accessing the site on my iPhone it initially goes to the regular site, but then redirects to a VERY simple, text-based site with the following prompts- Check in, Contact, Terms, Privacy Policy, Technical Requirements, Click to visit non-mobile website. I can't look for flights, book a flight, access Westjet Vacations, or check status without clicking through to the non-mobile site. Now sure, there are a lot of users just checking in but, um... probably would have thought that out a bit more. Once through to the non-mobile site on my phone, moving around and booking something is relatively easy. So, overall impression on the new design is, well, meh. But I think it does the job and will have a decent shelf life of a couple of years. 3/5 stars!
