Farmville ripening the virtual currency economy

Farmville and produce king, Green Giant, recently finished up a pilot marketing project whereby they included free Farmville credits on select Green Giant products, such as these grape tomatoes. (via mashable.com)

Can this conceivably be the tipping point for connecting real and virtual? I suppose World of Warcraft has been doing the same thing for ages. The difference being, WofW users live and die in this virtual space. Now we're seeing the direct targeting of... produce shoppers? Like, who are we talking about here? Moms and Dads, folks. The buyers. The REAL decision makers. And, ultimately, the ones probably playing the game. I think we're going to see some more stuff happening in this space very, very shortly. dw
